How are you doing?

In the literature, it is acknowledged that family members of people with dementia are experiencing grief. As family caregivers, do you feel you are grieving? If so, do you feel you are supported in your grief?

As health care workers, do you think ...

From my friend, the great Canadian playwright Brad Fraser: Grief turns us all into porcelain figures when a loved-one is lost. Our selves are shattered and slowly and carefully we have to reconstruct our selves without the part of our make-up that ...

I love this list as well. Suggesting and giving those who want to support a few actionable items is usually a win-win for everyone. Spreading the stress for caregiver success relies on the caregiver to be able to ask for concrete examples from others willing to help out. Early in my journey when everyone was asking how they could help me with my dad and his dementia, I said instead of coming over (which many would likely have passed up on), I asked for assistance in helping us pay for a high end medication machine which cost hundreds of dollars at the time. Many supporters helped out which was quite an easy way to get many people to be part of our journey. There are many more strategies and ways. I’ll be using this list in the future. Thanks

My Mom passed away on August 16. I still can't believe it. She had terrible short term memory, and the doctor said that her sundowning was Alzheimer's, but you could sure still have a great conversation with her. ...

Donna, when we met up last spring, I listened with awe as you spoke about your mom. So sorry to hear about her passing. It is easy to see from the words you spoke how much you loved her and how meaningful she will continue to be in your life....take care....sending hugs.

Your mother sounds amazing! I'm so sorry for your loss but I love how you shared her with everyone - including those bad habits which we may share a couple in :)

Thanks for sharing your story about your mom "Tootie" - I enjoyed the part with her dancing in the front yard - the type of person I would have loved meeting. She sounds like a hoot of a human being :)
