MIND MATTERS: Women, Technology & Caregiving

In 2012, almost one-third of the Canadian population provided care to family members or friends with long-term health conditions, primarily those linked to aging/frailty and forms of dementia. This number will only increase, placing more and more younger Canadians under economic, physical, and psychological distress. Hear from advocate Ron Beleno and two young women featured in the documentary MUCH TOO YOUNG who have provided care to their mom since she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. FEATURING   RON BELENO Advocate WITH     KATHLEEN FRASCHETTI Registered Kinesiolgist & Caregiver EMILY FRASHETTI Student & Caregiver   Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.  Tickets  |  $25 Group Rate  |  $20 each Student Rate  |  $15      This event is part of the MIND MATTERS: WOMEN, BRAIN HEALTH AND TECHNOLOGY series and will be recorded and made available online.   PRESENTED BY            EVENING MADE POSSIBLE BY

For me, as much as I believe we all have moments of regrets in life with relationships - especially for those we are or have cared for, I've chosen to ingrain as many of the appreciative and loving memories from my journey with them. There has never ...

I love this list as well. Suggesting and giving those who want to support a few actionable items is usually a win-win for everyone. Spreading the stress for caregiver success relies on the caregiver to be able to ask for concrete examples from others willing to help out. Early in my journey when everyone was asking how they could help me with my dad and his dementia, I said instead of coming over (which many would likely have passed up on), I asked for assistance in helping us pay for a high end medication machine which cost hundreds of dollars at the time. Many supporters helped out which was quite an easy way to get many people to be part of our journey. There are many more strategies and ways. I’ll be using this list in the future. Thanks

Thanks for sharing your story about your mom "Tootie" - I enjoyed the part with her dancing in the front yard - the type of person I would have loved meeting. She sounds like a hoot of a human being :)
