Leading Mindfully

+

Being in the presence of individuals in vulnerable stages of their lives invites us to show up fully. Presence of mind and deep awareness creates clarity around what is necessary to fully engage the person in our care. A mindful disposition invites creativity, adaptability, and the capacity to witness what is said and unsaid in any interaction. Leading mindfully means having the presence of attention to be aware of how our thoughts, emotions and sensations are supporting the present moment and bringing our full capacities to bear. Through mindful presence we become open to tremendous possibilities.

Guiding question for this experience
How does one mindfully accompany an individual who is experiencing suffering or empower a team member to do the same?

What to expect from this experience
The cultivation of a mindful disposition, greater attunement to one’s own inner and outer experience, and the ability to guide with greater clarity.

The Purpose of My Practice

+

Understanding your unique gifts means that you can be a force for good in the world. What you practice you become good at. Understanding your inherent genius means that you can unlock your deeper wisdom and talents, master them, and let them be a beacon for others to draw inspiration from. When we are in tune with that deeper why, we create a supportive thread that runs throughout our lives. That thread serves as both a flowing current, generating momentum and is also a stabilizing force.

Guiding question for this experience
What has my life been hinting at that points to my own genius?

What to expect from this experience
Living in deeper alignment with your purpose means that you find greater joy in your work and can be a force for positive change in people’s lives. It is also a stabilizing force in your own life.

An Inspired Vision

+

Living out of alignment usually involves living out someone else’s expectations for us. When we’re authoring our lives through “thou shalt”, we are usually in a highly reactive posture, under performing and feeling uninspired. Your vision is the lens through which you see the world. It can be borrowed, narrow and constricted, or be self-architecting your bigger, brighter future. To be an effective leader or to support another is more than executing a list of to do’s. It actually begins with a “to be” list, as in, what is the vision for my life inviting me to be-->come. An inspired vision breathes life into everything you do.

Guiding question for this experience
How does my vision for my life enrich how I practice my craft?

What to expect from this experience
Developing an organizing principle that becomes your true north star and anchors you to your greatest potential.

The Many Faces of Motivation

+

Many leaders and health care professionals intimately understand the experience of feeling demotivated. The deeper realization is that feeling demotivated is its own form of disempowering motivation. Discover how you can elevate any goal by aligning it to a more intrinsic force that is unwavering in the face of challenges. You will discover motivational drivers that shape how you lead and practice. Experience how authentically aligned your goals are with what you truly want. This process will also invite you to understand the assumptions that are keeping you stuck in a pattern of behavior that may not be serving your true goals.

Guiding question for this experience
What is driving me towards or away from my true professional goals?

What to expect from this experience
Tuning your motivational frequency and bringing it into alignment with what you authentically want.

Practicing Our Values

+

Everything we believe as leaders and professionals is drawn from our values. Organizations that thrive create coherence across their values, anchored deeply in a shared purpose or “why”. The greater the incoherence between individual and organizational values, the more tension will arise in the practice of one’s craft and across the organization. We must begin by stating openly what we value and understand if the organizing principles of our lives and workplaces are inviting us to express them more fully.

Guiding question for this experience
How do I understand how my personal values align with the environment around me and how they are being expressed across my life and the organization?

What to expect from this experience
Clarity of values and who I am at my core empowers me to act decisively and to make value-informed actions vital to my practice.

Cultivating Resilience

+

Adversity is inevitable. How one relates to that adversity is within our power. Cultivating resilience means learning the path that transforms obstacles into opportunities. Limiting beliefs in how things should be done inhibits change and growth across organizations and the people who move through them. We can react or we can choose; one leads to growth the other leads back into the cycle of the familiar and the inevitability of the same problems continuing to resurface. The appearance of recurrent issues signals that one has developed an immunity to change. Resilience is the baseline from which we undertake a deeper inquiry into what alternatives we are being invited to look at.

Guiding question for this experience
What mindset invites me to see obstacles as opportunities?

What to expect from this experience
Honing the skills of response-ability; the ability to respond to moments of discomfort, ambiguity and unpredictability with courage and determination.

Navigating Through Resistance

+

Resistance across organizations - leadership and team members - reduces our capacity to become friendlier with the state of things and to innovate from that place of deep knowing. What we believe are systemic limitations are often arising from psychological inflexibility and the inability to open up to possibilities and learnings. We can change our relationship to discomfort when we understand that we have the power of choice and the freedom to experiment. Resistance can be a lab or a jail.

Guiding question for this experience
What happens when I step out of the story and into curiosity?

What to expect from this experience
Learning to identify resistance across my experience and developing an awareness that is freeing rather than limiting.

The Professional Art of Self-Mastery

+

What we practice we become. That is true for better and for worse. The art of self-mastery means learning to undertake one’s craft with a vision for unconditional success; one is simply committed to progress not perfection. To make that possible, we invite participants to make a transformational shift from ambition to meaning. There one finds true admiration for self and the authentic desire to become masterful at the craft of simply being on the journey.

Guiding question for this experience
What would it mean if I could live out my potential moment-to-moment?

What to expect from this experience
The capacity to become the best version of yourself and unleash your hidden gifts into the world.

Empathy & Compassion

+

What we find unpleasant in others is most often something we find unpleasant in ourselves. Empathy and compassion begins with a process of self-knowing that allows us to move from a place of judging ourselves and others towards a place of genuine caring. The ability of a leader to listen with deep empathy to the challenges arising within their organization, among their team members or with clients begins with curiosity, which invites a precise and measured response.

Guiding question for this experience
How would stepping into someone else’s experience change how I practice my craft?

What to expect from this experience
Finding the balance between self and other compassion. Learning how to show up fully, create space for others and inspiring collaboration.

A Culture of Leadership

+

Leadership is 98% disposition and 2% position. That means that great leaders begin with the question: How am I leading myself? From that place we can begin to understand how we are projecting ourselves into the world and how we are receiving others and inviting them to know themselves. Our organizational cultures can be built around this ever evolving intelligence where everyone becomes more attuned to each other. That is a culture that nourishes mutual growth and support.

Guiding question for this experience
What kind of leader brings out the best in people?

What to expect from this experience
Participants will understand how to shape culture as a highly evolving, emergent phenomenon that draws on collective capacity.

Communication & Conflict Resolution

+

How we communicate with one other and handle conflict is a critical indicator of successful relationships across organizations. The groundwork begins with creating psychologically safe spaces. Organizations that communicate successfully move beyond either/or ways of thinking and invite and/also into their emotional vocabulary. Uncover what interferes with finding balance within an organization and what engenders healthy communication.

Guiding question for this experience
What would happen if we took a risk on being fully engaged with one another?

What to expect from this experience
Understanding the essential practices and the emotional disposition that invites deep care and compassion.
